8200 is the elite technological unit of the Israeli intelligence. It is the Israeli equivalent of the NSA. The series will expose the spearhead of the aggressive intelligence measures that Israel operates: cyberattacks, offensive software, advanced eavesdropping and satellite tracking. For the first time, the IDF’s military AI system, which is at the top of the pyramid and covers everything, will also be presented.
The AI not only collects huge amounts of intrusive intelligence (against civilians and allies), at levels never seen before, but also recommends violent actions, ranging from assassinations to large-scale aerial attacks.
At the heart of the story is Amir, an intelligence officer who tries to stop the potential catastrophe; Dewey, his brother, a high-tech billionaire, who returns to Israel after years of absence; and Adi, a brilliant female officer who leads the sophisticated intelligence machine, but has to deal with a fatal mistake she made. The three have a complex, visceral, and toxic relationship.
The military escalation shapes and redefines the relationships between the characters, and connects between the personal and the security. But the blind reliance on technology, which sometimes seems futuristic, leads to conflicts, dilemmas and even costs human lives.
